One of the first thing that everyone seems to recommend to shorter riders aside from lowering the seat, suspension, etc. is to buy a pair of thick-soled boots. My question is, who makes them and how thick are the soles? Some of us less tall riders might need a little extra shoe leather, but don't want to look like a member of Kiss on a bike.

Does someone make a comfortable thicker soled boot that doesn't make it look like you have platform boots on?

Best bet is to buy a boot you like then take it to a shoe repair guy to add more to it.

 

Yep, you can always take your favorite pair of boots to any shoe repair place and have them modified.

I had some standard soled H-D boots resoled with a smooth bottomed 3/4" Vibram sole with a additional waffle patterned sole glued/sewed under the Vibram.

Added an extra inch or so that got me completely flat footed.
