Default How often to change oil?

I have a 2007 CVO Screamin' Eagle Ultra. The owner's manual calls for oil changes every 5,000 miles. My dealer says because of the heat of the engine I should change oil every 2,500 miles. I always use synthetic oil when I have the service performed. Is the dealer just looking after his wallet, or will I benefit from changing the oil every 2,500 miles versus the 5,000 miles recommended by the manual?

Some will say 5000 and some will say 3000......depends on what YOU feel it should be....

but save the money and do it yourself!

I only have a sportster but I changed oil and filter at 1000 miles, just the oil at 2500 miles and oil and filter at 4,100 miles.
I don't really follow schedulled maintenance, I just change it when it looks dirty and thick and when I want to tinker with the bike

Too often is better than not often enough.
It really depends what type of riding you do. Lots of Highway miles go longer. In town, city miles, stop light racing etc. change it more often.

I use synthetic, change my own every 2500 most 95% are highway miles at about 60MPH. I consider fresh oil to be cheap insurance.

I change mine when I change underwear.

Once a year or when they become coal black. Whichever comes first.

I change mine @ 5,000 miles and have it analyzed by Blackstone labs. Oil is fine after 5K miles according to the reports so far. I have been using Mobile 1 V-Twin 20W-50 but I am thinking about switching to M1 15W-50 at the next change.

Default feels good

Has anyone EVER had an engine failure that was attributed to frequency or brand of oil used? Follow Harley's recommendations is my advice - for what it's worth
