I would suggest looking to see if any codes are being set first.
I would order the service manual and electrical diagnosis manual for the bike.
loose corroded cables at battery, starter, ground.
Charging system putting out correct volts and amps. because at 36k you are about time for a new stator, if you do any long hard riding in hot weather. Old stators had a prblem from factory. Yours should be 45 amp, not 32/38, because of fuel injection.
How low is the compression? it would have to be pretty bad and you would have other signs, smoke, fouled plugs, coughing, missing.
You bike is old with low miles, I would replace the fuel filter in the tank.
Check the pressure regulator, check the fuel pressure at idle.
Find some other shop to do a compression test and a leakdown test. I would also do a digital ohm meter test on the throttle position sensor.
It could have a bad spot in it.
The system is not hard to diagnose if you have the books and understand how it works.
