For those of you with the progressive drop in lowering kit, how much of the spacer did you cut off and how much of a drop did it give you? Im trying to get some kind of an idea before i tackle this task. Thanks Justin

I didnt cut the spacers at all as per the instructions for a fxst. I got about a 1.25-1.375 drop. I was a little dissapointed because I wanted 2 inches. But I was to lazy to take it all apart again. So what are they 4.5. I think that if you cut them to 4 that would be pretty good. The spacers are 3/4 inch pvc so it is cheap to experiment. Just a pain in the a$$. I was going to just remove the fork caps and loosen the pinch bolts. Then you can slide the whole front end down enough to get the spacers out.

 

I cut an inch off the spacer as per the instructions for an 08' Deluxe and got just over an inch. To get the full drop you cut the spacer down to the minimum recommended length - that is what the progressive tech person told me.

 

JFonzka and all. Sorry for getting off topic but your bike is sharp! I've seen the tan seats (unmounted) and thought ugh, but the other posters are right. A tan seat on a black bike is bada$$.

I left my pvc at 4.5 and only got about 1.25" drop as well. I did fill it with 12.5 ounces of fork oil though per the guide, but that amount should be based off the original stock height. I'm thinking about draining an ounce out to see if it makes a difference, but right now I have tons of other things on my bike to fix and get working. Let us know if you can get the two full inches.

I am about to do this too, and am interested in how much to trim off for an '98 FXSTC. The guide states to leave the PVC the same length, but I also want the 2 inch drop. I think there is another post on here where the guy makes reference to how much he cut off to get the desired result. I am off to the "SEARCH" function....

 

I would guess that you would trim off an additional 3/4" of an inch for a full 2" drop. I think the instructions tell you a max amount to trim off but I forget what it is. I am pretty sure it is less than 3/4" LOL. But you could try it. I would guess the reason they tell you not to trim off to much is that the springs dont have enough preload. Just a guess though.

 

My spacers are 2.5" and I'm dropped about 2.5" from stock.

 

Here is a copy of the instructions below. These lengths are for 2" of drop (but vary's per bike).
On the left hand side of the instructions in the Chart PVC spacer length, it tells you to cut spacer to a length of 4.50 for a 2" drop on a FXSTB.
I cut my spacer to 2 3/4 for a for a 2 1/4 drop (I own a FLSTN). I wish I would of left it for only a recommended 2" drop. If you get it too low its hard to get a jack under the bike. All bikes vary however, you may get 1.5 inch drop and another bike may get a 2 inch drop, is my understanding. If you go with the 4.0 instead of the recommended 4.5 inch spacer and check your height and then decide if you want lower or higher (PVC is cheap at the store). I think its pretty easy to take a FXSTB back down and adjust height, that is easy compared to my bike.
