I have a 1983 FXRS with a 5 speed. When the restoration was first compleated the clutch was working fine. Then it started this weird problem. At take off it grabbs hard way before the clutch is all the way out. This is a progressive problem as it gets worse the more I ride it.
Any advice on this problem?

 

bearing has collapsed on end of pushrod on trans cover end

 

If that bearing is the throwout bearing it's on it's fourth one. Is there something that would cause that bearing to go bad? I'm kinda new to the world of Shovel Heads. Thanks for the advice.

 

excessive spring pressure, and/or incorrect clutch adjustment
if there is no freeplay, the bearing is under load all the time
