I think it will take more than that.

Ive seen my buddies V-rod out run a couple other friends bikes that have alot of motor work done on them.

 

You also need to take into account the driver(s) of the bikes. I knew a guy at my last job who had one. He said he can keep up with sportbikes until roughly 80-90mph but then they just pull away from him. I believe his was a Night Rod and was rated at 125hp.

 

Try this "calculator" for starters to see what it would take to put you in the ballpark. My bike weighs 607 with 1/2 tank of fuel and I'm 195 ready to ride. 111hp at the rear wheel...

the only air cooled harley i have EVER heard of beating a vrod in a drag race (believe it or not) is a sportster. but that is of corse with such modifications done to it that it practically has to be rebuild every year.

 

I bet you'd get a lot of interesting responses if you posted that question over in the V-Rod section... Personally I don't think the Dyna would have a chance against the V. Two different animals

 

agreed a dyna MIGHT stand a chance MAYBE with a turbo, a bottle, and some serious headwork. at that point the only thing is certain is your going to have to replace clutches and belts and what not almost every year depending upon how much and how hard you regularly ride.

 

If speed is your need, don't ride a HD.

 

I have a Dyna with a 103. Not "well built", just a factory stage 2.

I also have a V Rod (Street rod model).

The Dyna is nice, and I ride it more, but its not faster

However, the Dyna has more torque, and a lower 1st gear (the VRod is a 5 speed). If it was a drag race, from a dead start, I think it would depend a lot on how well the VRod rider could launch. I think I could launch my Dyna faster than my StreetRod, but I don't really try on either bike.
