I removed the rear tire/wheel assy the other day to get a new tire installed. Took it to a local tech and he mounted and balanced it for $150.
Just wondering if anyone here replaces their own tires and if you can do it by hand as easy as the oem manual shows?
Mine is a 2003 roadking.

You either got a hell of a deal...or you really got ripped off!

If the $150 included the tire, then you did well.

If the $150 was just for the mount/balance...well in that case I have a very lucrative investment plan for you. Seriously, I had Cycle Gear mount and balance my rear tire for $25 a few months back. Another indy would have done it for $20.

 

The shop mounted a new rear dunlop mt 90/16 and balanced it right on the spot, meaning I waited for it.
All for $150. Tire and all.
The harley shop wanted $165 for just the tire. I think the harley shop wanted another $50 to remove, mount and balance.
This shop is in competition with the harley shop so he gives people a break.....I think.
At this price I was wondering if it is worth for me to remove the tire and replace myself, if I can get this done for $150???

Tires, HD lops, $205. free ship, two days to door..
rode bike to local indy at 9am he R&R'd, balanced and reinstalled them and called me art 2pm to come and get her,, for $120.. Total $325.

Dealer wanted $295 for tires and $160 to replace them.. total $455...

No brainer.. with the savings I order another new rear for next change and still had $40 left over.

 

I had a rear tire Dunlap put on a Ultra classic today in Mission Tx. and it cost me $236.00 for the tire and mount and balance. You got a hell of a deal.

 

When I first got my bike, I ordered a set for my '99 at a local indy. Paid $185/$145. That price included me ridin the bike in, r&r mounting and balancin. Before the tires arrived, I decided to tear the bike down for other repairs. Took the old rear wheel to him, and asked how much he'd charge just to mount/balance. I know, I was being polite, not expecting to be him to be so bold, plus I had changed the plans and wanted to give him the chance to be honest and fair. BUT... He said $45. Ok, I paid him. Took the wheel home and reinstalled it myself. The front came in a few days later, and he called. I said I'll pick it up but have it mounted later. I'll not deal with him again.

You got a great deal compaired to mine.
