I don't wear gloves while riding so resetting the valves can be hazardous to your finger. Is there any product like an asbestos or carbon fiber cap made that can be put over the valve cap? Something that doesn't absorb and hold the heat like the metal cap does? Did a search and came up blank....

I can only assume he is talking about decompression valves in the heads. And the only fix other than the metal top ones are the Jims valves. They have a high temp plastic blue cap on the top....... if your good should be able to quickly push em before they have a chance to burn your finger. PUSH FASTER!

Goodson valves have black plastic caps that blend in to the head and aren't very noticeable. They do get hot, but not to the point of burning your finger.

 

I still don't get it. You need to push your valves in while your riding?

When are the valves exposed while the motor is running?

I'm is stupid too, but i know their compression relief valves. They aid in starting of high compression motors like the ole Yamahammer singles that'd whoop a good man. Just add another punched out high compression cylinder and you have a bad-As Harley! I remember the Yamaha's having a third mini brake like handle higher on the bars to squeeze to relieve the pressure when starting.

 

The correct name is "Compression Relief Valve". Here is a picture on one. It's the button next to the spark plug hole......

 

Ummm, how about automatic compression releases?
