I bought the smartpartz baffles to try and quite my big radius, however, I can't seem to get the original baffles out.

Any suggestions?

i did mine a while ago. you have to take the chrome heat sheilds off and then the set screws. from there its just a matter of luck. the one baffle literally fell out once i removed the set screw. the other baffle for some reason was frozen in there and took alot of effort to finally get out. i then put the thunder baffles in which i think sound awesome. anyway you might get lucky and they both my come out really easy or they might be a huge pain.......good luck

 

The first one I tried was a huge pain, and I stopped then to try and get some advice. For the one that was a pain for you, what did you do ? The problem is that there isn't much to grab on to. I put a needle nose into the baffle and was able to grab one of the waffles, but it didn't seem to budge. Is there something else I can do to help free it up?

Two things put some oil in there and let them sit or get a slide hammer w/ the hooked end and pull them out from there.

 

Well, after another attempt, the one pipe that I didn't try, fell right out. After another shot at the stuck one, still no dice. I'm going to get some WD40 and spray it up there and let it sit for awhile. I tried the clothes hanger thing on the inverted screw with the 2x4 on the other end and banging that, but still nothing.

 

The top pipe is easy, it will just fall out but the bottom one is a royal pain.

I threaded a 1" bolt into the baffle from the inside so that I could put a 1 1/8" box end wrench over the 1" bolt. Then I attached vice grips to handle on box wrench at 90 degree angle. This allowed me to use a mallet to pound on the vice grips causing the baffle to come out.

It only took me about 10 seconds to get the baffle out with this approach.

After everything else I tried... I was amazed at how easy it came out with this method.

 

For me the top baffle was the problem. Tried everything until I had a slide hammer with a bracket to the setting screw mounted in side, 4blows and the baffle slipped out:

 

yeah i ended up using an improvised slide hammer, but its really hard to get it to grab onto something. i didnt even thing of putting the screw on the inside...not a bad idea
