Default SE Air Filter

I notice on the New SE air kit that the filter must stay dry whereas the K&N is coated with oil. Is there any opinions which is better

Hands down , the K&N, I think HD is going back to the K&N because of problems with the perty blue thing coming apart.

The K&N is tons better. I feel better being able to wash out the filter to clean it. I clean mine with Varsol, let it air dry, then re-oil it with K&N spray.

Maybe a dumb questin, but can the "perty blue" filter in the new SE kit be replaced with the K&N at replacement time?

If you are wanting to change the SE air filter to a K&N they do not have one listed on there site yet. They have a listing for the stock HD air filter if that is what you have but not a replacement if you have had the Stage I done.

They DO have what you are looking for because they make them for HD, try calling them. I took these numbers off the extra one that I have on the top rubber edge A055E4 and 130 if they help off a 03 SE deuce.

Not to sound stupid but if I may ask a question. What is comprised of a stage 1 kit? Recently A friend of my came back from the states and brought me a SE air filter and one jet ( not sure of size since it's at my work). I got the P/N for the air filter from the HD SE web site for my 05 Fatboy( picking it up Aug 1). My friend also told me he stated to the dealer what it will be for ie: Model Carb etc. just to be sure he gets the right one also. (can't take it back until the next visit back to the states). I guess what I'm asking is should I wait to put this on? being that what I'm reading the K & N is coming back? Or should I go ahead and have it installed. I've also read that there are 2 jets. Why would the dealer only give me one? Hope this makes sense. Any advice is appreciated

You might want to check on the Harley-Davidson website, since they have a contact number for you guys in other countries. Let us know what comes of it though......I really want the K&N verses a paper one. First of all, the K&N will outlast you if you clean it and oil it regularly, and treat it right (i.e. put it on carefully, don't cruch it down by overtightening, etc, COMMON SENSE i guess...) and unless you live on a dirt road, it will only need to be maintained maybe once a year, unless you get into a lot of water, rain etc., I guess you just have to keep an eye on it. I personally LOVE K&N's.

If you guys get any more info on this let me know. I'm stopping by the dealer today, and i'll ask them about this, and let you guys know what I find out, if anything.

It needs a cleaner to service it PN 99883-88T
and an oiling with PN 99332-88T

Hope this helps you out
