Just curious what tire pressures Wide Glide owners are running? Manual says 40 rear and 30 front. On other bikes I've dropped the recommended pressure by 2-4 lbs unless I'm traveling long and heavy but for local runs a few pounds less seems to give a bit better ride quality. Any down side to say 36 rear and 28 front?

 

Manual for 07 FXDB says All Models, 36 lbs back (if riding double, 40 lbs.) 30 lbs Front. That's about where I keep them. That's the specs for the Dunlops that the MoCo uses. Probably different with other tire mfgrs.

 

Under inflated tires can affect braking and also accelerates tire wear.

 

run 40psi in the front because of the small side wall one good pot hole and u got a bent rim i also rum 35 in the rear

Riding single I run 36 rear, 30 front, if I have a passenger, I raise the rear to 40.

gonna depend on your weight. If your lighter rider, a few lbs less pressure won't hurt. However it is probably better to run the recommended pressure if your over 190 lbs. I run 40 rear and 35 front on my metzelers. I do get a softer ride with the 30 in the front, but I still would rather run the 35psi as it is better for the metzeler tire. You won't die or put yourself in any real danger being a couple psi off the recommended pressure.

 

Thanks to all for the comments. I'll stay with the recommended 30psi in the front but will drop the rear from 40 to 38psi and see how it runs. Thanks again!

 

Here is a tip I always follow for maximum tire life and handling

Run the recommended inflation pressure for a COLD tire.
Drive bike 10 miles.
Ideally your tire psi should (only) increase 10%.

Air temp and weight will make a difference.

Adjust PSI as necessary
