Default drive belt replacement

I have a 99 dyna wide glide and my belt is in need of replacement. I was curious how much do these run and if its a job for the shop or can i tackle it myself? How much do you think the shop would charge for replacement? Thanks.

It's kind of a big job. You have to remove the inner and outer primary, clutch, and starter. The only specialy tool you need is something to hold the primary chain stable while you unbolt the clutch and stator. You can buy a special tool from HD, J&P, or wherever. I went down to the used sporting goods store and bought an old hockey puck. I cut that down to the width of the chain and jammed it in there.

or just use a impact, no special tools necessary!

The factory service manual specifically states do not use an impact wrench. Don't know why. But I didn't use one. A hocket puck and big wrench handle worked just fine.

The impact wrench could damage the stator magnet mounting.
