Default Duel exhaust on Heritage Softail classic

Is it possible to go with duel exhaust on a heritage softail classic? If it is, any thought on a good package? What are the advantages and will I to need upgrade the tuner and air filter?

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the exhaust. I was thinking slip ons but why do slip on if most of the bikes I see have duel exhaust?

Vance & Hines made the duals on my Softail Springer Classic which is about identical except for the studs and fringe. FLSTSCwithbags004-1.jpg?t=1261363842 Name: FLSTSCwithbags001.jpg

Thanks. Did you get a gain in performance. How's the sound? What else did you do besides having the pipes put on?

Samson makes a great looking kit but dont be looking for the performance from running true duals. A 2 into 1 pipe will give you the best low end TQ. But they do not look that great on an old school bike...

I am saving up for the D&D Fat Cat myself. I like the sound they have and after you ride one you will not care so much about the looks...

Interesting, thanks. So you are saying a true duel exhaust will actually lower my performance? Should I stick with good slip ons or should I go with a better exhaust than the stock exhaust?

There are many treads on the 2 into 1 pipes. Look for the Dr V-twin bike. Pm him about his findings on his change over to the 2 into 1. He also has had many exhaust systems on his bike. I think you will be very happy with the D&D Fat Cat. And they look the best out of all the 2 into 1 pipes..

True dual def works on the Heritage Classic, and looks sweet. V&H and Samson are prob the most popular manufacturers out there. You will not gain any performance from a true dual exhaust. For that you need a cross over system or a 2 in 1 system

you do not need to upgrade your air cleaner, but would be advantageous. However if you upgrade both exhaust and A/C you will need to re-tune your ECM either by download (your stealer can do that with the download costing around 200) or investing in a piggyback system like FP or PC.
