Gentlemen and Ladies,

I am a Curator for the Oklahoma Museum of History. Yesterday, (8/16/06) a gentleman donated a 1926 H-D Peashooter racing bike that his father had gotten from the factory. His father had worked for HD from 1917 to about 1925 or so, and then had gone racing. The bike has been modified from what pictures I have seen of a 1926. The tank is much smaller and teardrop shaped instead of a long one. The person who donated it to us stated that only 18 of them were ever made, that this was an experimental type of motorcycle, and that most of the others had been on a ship to Europe that sank.

I am trying to find any information about this bike, such as where do I find a serial number, how do I find out if it was an experimental bike, etc. I can post pictures of it if needed.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum from Colorado. Don't have any info. myself, however, there are lots of knowledgeable folks on the forum who are always willing to help. Is it a single cyl. ohv with no brakes and the carb sticking out the right rear? (This is the only "Peashooter" model I know of). Pics. would help.

Wow! What an amazing find. I would suggest (if you haven't done this already) to contact Harley Davidson directly. I'm sure that they would have a historian on staff that would know specifically what the details surrounding this elusive model are.

They may even be able to provide you with copies of official production documentation or the like that you can add to your display.
