So i just snaged some lowering blocks for the rear of my street bob....figured id try the easy/cheaper way first. Anyone got any ideas on how i can lift the rear to install them without a jack? I plan on gettin a motorcycle jack soon just dont have one at the moment. Is the best way just for me and a friend to muscle it onto something?....is that even possible?.....thxs Vec

 

lift it on to some stacked boards but make sure you strap the front end down for stability.

 

I'd say just wait and get a lift. Better safe than sorry.

If you have access to a warehouse, ball and tackle hooked up to the back end.

 

what do u mean strap the front end down?....like lock the stearing?....or strap the rims and such to prevent rolling.

 

yes you can lift the rear onto some boards, ive had to use that method before. easier with two people, one lifting and one sliding the boards. strap the front end so it doesnt tip off of the boards.

 

Wait until you get a jack.

I built one about a year ago and it works great!

 

i used my car jack with a board across it, and of course a friend holding the front end for security. not a big deal for just changing the shocks, you only need the rear tire "almost" off the ground. or do it right and get a motorcycle jack lol

 

go to the Harbour Freight web site. You might find a scissor jack or bike jack for cheap. I actually bought the wheel chock for 49.00 and bolted it to the garage floor. So now I roll the bike it to the chock , soft strap the engine guard and i can jack it up for whatever I need to.

And what I meant about strapping the front down was to provide support so the bike doesn't tip over on you.

 

Have you ever tied a bike down to a trailer? You tie it down. Just like that, except without the trailer. (this is really starting to sound like a recipe for disaster.)
