Deuce wheel 04 on my 06 custom
I got me a 04 Deuce wheel coming to stick on my 06 custom.
I have read that the wheel has 3/4 bearings and spacers.
My 06 has a 1" axle.
SO....
I have to get the wheels hub machined to fit a 1" bearing spacer
OR
Can I fit a 04 3/4 axle on my 06 and save the hassle?
Can I make a spacer using thinner tubing to fit the 1" axle?
Then the really difficult question, 170 will fit, but can I fit a 180 up in there?

All you'll need to do is get 1" axle bearings and spacer. The O.D. is the same.
I put a 180 on a Sportster using a stock fender just like yours and it was TIGHT. I had to have the wheel dead centered under the fender. I used a Pirelli Night Dragon. The measurement of a tire will vary from one manufacturer to another...so the 180 I used may be narrower than another brand.

Time for an update!
Got the wheel. Like new, not even dirty finger prints (but my own) bearings good! I think it was pulled right away as in the box was the instructions for a chrome rim.
Got the '04 axle so no machining needed.
Old rear tire and rim left and right side picts.
Deuce rim next to my old stock rim. 160 metz tire as I got a deal on it, but next time will be a 170!
Ok, what when on. I loosened the bolts on the pulley, tried the rotor but no room. So I removed the belt guards, bottom one is a PIA!! Pulled the axle, got the old rear tire out. Put the swing arm on jack stands for the night. Man I could really use a lift but I am making do with what I got.
Put the rotor on the new rim with socket head Allens and blue loktite.
I HATE TORX!!!!
The project is running smooth EXCEPT I need to get longer bolts for the rotor. So off to the local accessory shop or my local fastener store.

Made my spacers, here is the one on the brake arm. Did the same for the axle adjusters.
Good old PVC adapter from home depot.
New rear wheel temp installed on the bike. I need some longer bolts for the rotor. What a pain!! After a night of looking I found Buell rotor bolts are the 3/8-16 1.75" long I want. Normal HD is 1" long. And its HAS TO BE button head to clear the brake bracket.

Ok, since last night I have been perplexed, bewildered, confounded, and alike about why I could not get my rotor bolts to tighten up.
Simple answer, the wheel was backwards. And here I thought that everyone before me who said this was a straight forward job was a liar...
Turns out one side of the wheel (rotor) is 3/8-16 and the other (pulley) is 7/16-14.
So, with that revelation I now have it together and test fitted. But now for the hiccup, the tire is backwards. So off to my indy to get it flipped around. Then its grease and a big hammer to slide my axle in..... Maybe then I can put some more miles on the bike.
And oh yea I also put in the running light / turn signal part to make my rear turns into brake and running lights.
