Default 48 - have you changed your footpegs? How?

Hi everyone,

I just went to the dealer to change my footpegs, I like the silencer ones, but we couldn't because the part that holds the pegs are different on the 48 than on the other sporsters...in fact, if you go to the hd website, under 2011 xl1200x
http://www.harley-davidson.com/brows...bmLocale=en_US
there are no footpegs for the 48.

We looked into changing the piece that holds the pegs, but they didn't have any in stock and wouldn't take one off of another bike, and it would take 2 weeks before they would recieve that part (i live in Switzerland).

The issue with that, as I see it, is that the original pegs have a bend in them, therefor, if I put the ones from another sportster, my foot would be about an inch higher (closer to the shifter) which may or may not be a pain in the butt.

The other solution, more time and money, would be to sand down the oem piece, but I didn't want to do that and the issue about the bend would still be an issue.

So I was wondering if anyone has changed the footpegs, how did you do it, and what is that damn piece called so I don't keep talking about the "piece."

Thanks,

Lou

Default pegs

I went to the H-D shop and asked if they could change peg shafts off another model Sportster. They said interesting idea. Tried it and it worked. Ordered 2 new shafts for my new tribal pegs. H-D still wins. Cost me money......... I think they did that change on purpose to later come out with a whole line of more expensive 48 model stuff. JMI

Well I bought Silencer pegs for my 48 the sales guy said they would fit. They didn't so I ground the Peg itself in a radius where it hits the "Piece" this worked fine for me. I didn't notice any difference in Shifting or anything. I don't really like how they look on my Bike so I'm going to sell them.
