Default Storage - Drain gas or add stabilizer?

For those of us that have to put the bike to bed for extended periods. Winter up my way is pretty long...

Better to drain the tank and run it dry or add stabilizer? Someone once told me that the tank could rust if left dry?!

I think if you can get ethanol free gas the fill it up and add fuel stabilizer if you can only get ethanol gas dain it and fog the tank with WD 40. I have heard that fuel stabilizers dont keep ethanol gas from separating and becoming corrosive

It will definitely rust with empty tank.

For years I've either added stabil or left it as is, and I've never had a problem either way. I don't know if I'm just lucky or what, but it's never been a problem for me either way. I definitely wouldn't leave the tank empty though.

Winter in southern maine isn't quite as long as quebec but I've always used stabil without any issues. Bike is stored in an unheated barn from late november until late april or early may depending on when the snow melts. I heard recently, maybe on this forum, that the marine stabil is better then standard. I have not tried it though.

I always top off tank and add Stabil without any issues. Fog cylinders as well. Don't think I would let sit with an empty tank for extended periods.

Top off tank and add Stabil, change fluids, hook up battery tender and wait for the next season. That's what I do and never had any probs over the years.

Fill the tank all the way up, and put in blue Stabil or use Startron.

If the tank is 1/2 full or empty, the moisture will build up and could rust the tank and also will make the bike run like **** in the spring.

never leave the tank empty,it will rust to hell.use stable or LUCAS stablizer, always change oils too, dirty oil will let the contaminates settle to the bottom of the tank/cases and will never really come out
