Default Flash Drive into AUX port?

You fellas with USB flash drives, are you plugging them directly into the Aux port with a 1/8 to USB adapter cord? The HK radio reads the flash drives OK?
I used the flash drive with my Sony/Biketronics setup on my 06 Standard and it worked awesome. That had a direct USB port though, I didn't know the USB Flash Drive would work on the Harmon Kardon unit. Let me know so I can pick up a cord today!!

I have never heard that one can plug an USB Flash Drive into the aux port (1/8) of any radio and think it can work. Ipods yes USB's no.

No one makes anything like that. Something would have to read and convert the data in the flash drive and send the signal out to an earphone jack.

Why would it need to be converted? If you can burn MP3 discs and play them in the CD player why couldn't you plug in a USB drive with MP3s loaded on it? Like I said this is standard protocol on the Sony head units, are you saying the Harmon Kardon head unit won't read the flash drive? What a bunch of crap.
(The radio, that is).
vickers1:
I will look into the drive you found. Thanks.

Ok, I am wrong. I don't think it's possible without a player device. If there was a USB input then it would proly work. Wishful thinking on my part. I am still going to look into flash memory players vs Ipods.

There are some MP3 players that look and you upload the music to them like you would a flash drive. But you listen to the music on it with a standard 1/8" headset. Which, if you had the double mail end on the cord, plug it into the AUX jack and the headphone jack.

Yeah... that port is for an Audio signal not a Serial communications (USB) signal.

Whether you decide to go with a flash drive player (which is an mp3 player with built in computer hookup) or an mp3 player , I would remember 2 things: first, get one with a rechargable battery and second, get one with as much memory as you can afford (anything less than 2 gb will just **** you off). Anything with less than 4 gb will make you go buy one with at least 4 gb.
