Seven torx screws, disconnect the headlight, you're done.

I place a towel on my front fender and lay the passing lamps on it.

I've been wanting to go with XM but still want the controls to function. Are you upgrading to an 07 HD radio or do you know if that's possible?

Put socks on your passing lights. A couple of the screws are well hidden. Don't get in a hurry.

Be careful with the lowest screws, they are back behind the forks and if you drop one, they tend to get caught between the fork and the inner fairing.

I would also suggest that you loosen (not remove) all of the screws...and then slowly take out the top...ensuring that you have a good handle of the windshield. If you don't, sometimes the tension on it will cause it to pop out and get scratched.

remove the top windshield screws (put the middle screw in about half way to hold everything)... then remove the rest (you do Not have to remove the passing lamps) it will go on and off with them in place,,,, like said, take your time - the sock idea is a good one - once you have done it - you will see just how easy it is.... be glad you do not have a RG

Go to this link. Excellent guide: https://www.hdforums.com/m_384080/tm.htm

This was also posted earlier:

Using a Torx 27, remove the 3 screws under the windshield and remove the windshield. From the other side, remove 2 screws (1 each side) by the hand grips. Now, turn the bars full left and on the right side near the neck, remove 1 screw. Then full right and remove the left side screw. Lift up and forward and unplug the headlight. Lift off fairing.
