Anyone use one of these to crimp pins and sockets on a Deutsch connector. This one sells for $29.00. All the other tools I've found sell for over $200.00. All ideas input welcome.

Peddler, I've only used the two crimp tools (Philmore WS26, $7.99 at Fry's Electronics; and, BCT-1, $25 from Great Plains Electronics) mentioned in UltraKla$$ic's thread and in your reply in post #48:

The BCT-1 tool (actually a Sargent tool) works equally well with Tyco AMP and GM/Delphi weather seal pins/sockets in additon to the Deutsch crimps.

Nice find on the tool you pictured. Do you have a link? Manufacturer? Does it do both crimps simultaneously?

Sounds like it could be a good buy if its something you wont use alot. My experience with tools is you get what you pay for and the ones Ive seen, as you said, go for as high as $350 but if you arent going to use it all the time, it may get the job done for you.

 

hollow pins and a soldering iron....no need for a crimp tool.

 

Ive only used an expensive CAT brand deustch crimper. Nice tool to have but I use it so infrequently im better off just borrowing it.

 

Great find. I haven't seen a Deutsch connector tool for under $200. Might have to pick one of these up and give it a shot.

Does it have the spring in the centre where the pin goes into the crimper? The $200 pair I have allows you to do a first crimp then push the pin in against the spring tension in the tool and you get another crimp on the ferrule.

The only one I have ever used is also the one that Caterpillar supplies in their electronic repair kits for Deutsch connectors, I looked in to purchasing one for myself and it was over 200.00. I may just buy this and try it for a whopping 29.00, hell I've spent that at the bar and still have nothing to show for it.
