Question Low speed front end shimmy

At about 30-35mph my 06 ultra has a shimmy in the front end, and if you take your hands off the bars they shake and wobble badly side to side (not up and down). All seems OK at all other speeds (although I am sure would be smoother if slow speed wobble was fixed).

Do you think the front wheel has thrown a weight and needs rebalanced or the problem is something else.

Original dunlap 402 tire with 13500 miles. Plenty of tread left. Thanks

The steering head bearings may need to be adjusted or replaced.

I had a similar problem recently, my rear tire had squared off a bit and with a new rear tire, shimmy went away. Other things to check is bearings (as RK$ME said) and tire pressures.

Just today I put finishing touches on an unstable riding condition. Unconfortable to ride with a sway feeling, Replaced both front and rear tires, with rear being squared off and both front back half worn. It helped the situation but not fully till I did a fall-away check today and found the neck bearings were on the tight side. Loosened them up to specs and a test ride made me happy as all hell.....took it up to 85 and and it felt GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!

Can't go wrong with a new tire, and service neck bearings to spec. You probably get a shimmy when you change lanes on the highway too huh? Its very important to me to keep the front tire in tip-top condition.

On my 2003 FLHTCi I get a very slight front end "shimmy" that seems to have some dependence on air temp and goes away after 1 to 2 km. Have simply learned to live with it

My 09 Ultra started a low speed shimmy, replaced both tires and it had little effect. Mentioned it to the service guys and they tell me the frontend is checked in the 15k check up. I have 16k on it. It is getting worse as I go. Yesterday pretty much decided it is going in to be checked out before I go anywhere on the road. It started idling along at 15 mph. Now if I take my hands off at 30 it gets bad enough for me to have to control.
