Has anybody installed or had installed the Tman 590 cams in their bagger? If you have, how was it and how did it perform?

I am "looking" for a new cam after the crank got scissored and tore up the S+S 106 bb kit and numerous other things. So far all I have done is had the bottom end "bullet proofed", had the stock jugs punched out to a 103 and fitted with wiseco 10.5:1 pistons. Next step is a cam and get the heads done.

They sure make good power when they're paired up with the right componants. They look like a higher lift version of the Woods 44 magnum, which is a killer cam in the right bike. Haven't had the opportunity to play around with the Tman cams, but I know they have a devoted following.

 

I believe PhilM has them in his 124" and is very pleased. Give TR a call and see what he has to say.

 

With a 103 and that gearing on your 07 the 555 t-man may be a better fit or if you don't mind the heavier valve springs and roller rockers needed, 625 t-man. same events just higher lift.

 

If your going to do head work and have 10.5 to 1 compression I would go with the tman 625 cam and a stage 3 port job.Its the 555 cam with more lift. I am going to use that cam in my new 107 build. Give TR a call.

 

I installed the T-Man 590's in my 103 build and really like them. My build is basically a 103ST kit from Headquarters. I swapped the HQ575 cams for the TR590's looking for the same TQ, a little more HP, and a little less ccp. I'm at 114/120 with the 590's and was at 112/122 with the 575's. My engine is 10.5:1 and cranks about 205ccp. Overall the experiment didn't really yield any benefit, but it was just that, an experiment.

The T-Man cams feel like they rev a little quicker, but it's tough to tell. I'm a little light on compression compared to what the 590's really like (about 10.8:1 so I'm told).

Bike rides great, starts easy, idles smooth, and pulls hard. Like has been mentioned before, give TR a call. He's very easy to talk to and really knows his chit with no BS.

I had a similar situation with my 07. Crank took a crap and I had it built back w/ bulletproof bottom end. Built a 103 with 10.5 pistons, mild head work with bigger valves and my mechanic used Woods TW-7H cams. I also had him put a 30 tooth trans gear.

I haven't had it dyno'd yet (have auto tune for now) but riding it is a blast. It's pretty mild mannered up to 3000 but then hits hard. I think the 30 tooth gear is particularly helpful on an 07. It puts 70MPH in 6th right at 2750 or so and makes 6th gear useful. If I wanted any more power, I'd buy a crotch rocket.

I just put them in my 107 and waiting for spring to come to determine how I like them. When I asked T.R. for a good touring bike he suggested all three cams, the 555, the 590 and the 625 and I ended up choosing the 590.

On his dyno charts there is a 107 with stage 3 heads and the 590 cam that looks great in my books.

Here's an update for all. I called TR yesterday and I was talking to him about his 590 cam and what I wanted out of the scoot. He suggested along with the 590 to have the stage II port done to the heads. He also said I should hit around 105-110 on both tq and hp.

Everybody was right about TR. Very, very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. He was busy on the phone when I first called him and some lady took my name and number and he called me back! I was in total shock! Talk about a down to earth person.

Now that part of the equation is solved, finally. Onto the next part. Wait, that was the LAST part. Now it's time to box things up and start putting the case back in the scoot. I'll be back with updates and more questions.
