Default What Does "R titled" mean in PA?

I had a guy email me about the corvette I have for sale
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gear-...00-or-wtt.html

Said he had a 2003 883 sporty he'd be willing to trade for the corvette but he said it is "R titled", hes from PA. He said the bike was laid down, and was professionally repaired. Can anyone explain what this R titled thing is? I'm guessing it has to do with reconstruction, but how much does that lower the value? Is it the same thing as a salvaged title? Is there a way to get a clean title on this bike and how much am I looking at to do that?

I personally don't want the bike, plan on putting some time and money into it (winter project), and selling in the spring. But the R title thing is holding me back from seriously thinking about it, maybe I should wait for something else.

Opinions?

Sounds like a rebuilt title. Maybe the same as salvage title. If that is the case it will lower the value. It will also be harder to sell a vehicle with a salvage title. JMO

Unless you're planning on keeping it, Id steer clear.

What is an r title for a motorcycle in Pa?

An "R" title is a "Rebuilt" title. If a motorcycle was wrecked and declared a loss by the insurance company and then subsequently rebuilt, it gets an R-title.

R-titled vehicles are often difficult (if not impossible) to get financing through banks. Also, insurance companies are less likely to provide full comprehensive or collision coverages - the vehicle was already written off as a total loss. Any subsequent damage would be difficult to determine if it was from the original accident or from a new event.
R-titled vehicles are generally worth about half of a non-rebuilt titled vehicle. It is a great opportunity to get a nice bike for a cheap price, especially if the original damage was mainly cosmetic in nature.

Must have been reading it at the same time you were. Yeah, I think I'll stay away from this one and wait for something better to come a long. Cash would always be nice.

The "R" title is a rebuilt title. That said the bikes probably worth less than half of it's blue book value and unless you plan on keeping it for a long time or parting it out, I wouldn't bother.

LOL, Threw a rod, corvette needs an engine. If the bike had a clean title I'd do it. What model schwinn do you have?

If it's a Sting Ray with a banana seat and sissy bar, go for it.
