Default How to paint over plastic chrome???

Hey guys, loving this new section!

Any tips on how to paint this plastic chrome trim piece a gloss black?
I was thinking sand, adhesion promoter, paint a few light coats and clear a few light coats?
Any other ideas ad i have never tried anything like this before. Just sent a bunch of powder coat to Joe and i gotta black this out to complete the look.

Thanks for any help, and if you have links to products that would be great!

I've painted some plastic chrome pieces for my buddies bike. What I did was scuff the finish until it was dull, sprayed one coat of etch primer then sealed it with a good quality urethane sealer, base coat and clear. It's held up so far and don't see any reason it won't.

Well, i did just as you described and it turned out good. I am happy with it. Installed it for now. Gonna look good when the bikes back together.
Scuffed with 3m pad. 2 adhesion promoter coats. 4 color coats, 3 clear coats.

I am still gonna play with my spares to see if i can better it.

Thanks Joe! Slowing blacking most of the bike out...at the same time trying not to overdo it. Going to have another batch of parts coming to you in another few weeks.
