Default oil seal (83162-51) ???

I want to change the camshaft oil seal (OEM 83162-51). Found two different style: normal seal and seal in a metal cage. What is the difference and what to choose better ?

You should have great results with either, just different manufacturers. Just remember to lube the seal well.

I`ve got one question on this topic. Is it possible to change this seal while gearcase cover is on the engine? Forgot to replace it last winter when the engine was apart, now I see a leak out there.

No, you have to pull the gearcase.

Thank you! That`s not good, I think I`ll live with it, unless it gets worse.

Jims makes a tool to change it without pulling the cover.
