Unhappy HD plug and play cruise control for 2002 FLHTC, not working.

Hello,

My 2002 FLHCT, Electra Glide Classic was pre-wired from the factory for cruise control. I decided to purchase the Genuine HD cuise control plug and play kit and install it myself, which was pretty simple. Well of course it didn't work, so I rechecked every thing I touched, all looked OK, and it still didn't work. I contacted the the place I purchased the kit from and they gave me a complete new cruise control kit. I switched the whole kit out to the new one, and of course it still didn't work. So I took my bike to a dealer, and 3 hours of labor later, they can't figure out why it doesn't work, and yes they charged me. I had a long trip planned, so I took my bike to another dealer to see if they could figure it out. They switched the cruise control unit out with one from a bike that worked, and it didn't work on my bike. They also ran a test and said it tested OK, and should be working, but it still doesn't work!! They charged me too. So far this cruise control cost about a grand and it still doesen't work.

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks
KC

See post #6 in this thread; it may help identify the problem:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...e-problem.html

Also, there is an HD Electrical Diagnostic Manual for 2002 Touring Models with an extensive diagnostic protocal for cruise control problems which can identify the problem.

Other than "not working," you don't provide much detail. For example, does the on/off switch on the fairing cap turn red when the switch is turned on?

You can also pull diagnostic trouble codes:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-02-ultra.html

Hope you get it sorted out.

Carl

I don't know anything about anything, but my friend recently put cruise on his 08. He had to have a dealer flash the ecm to recognize the change.
