Smile Compensator Sprocket Upgrade

I bought the Andrews 30T Trans Pulley. Goto page 4 for a pic.


I've searched and haven't found my answers, so I need your help guys.

I looking to change my my compensator sprocket to a lower tooth count for more get up'n go. I'm looking at the:

Evolution Industries 30 tooth kit, which is about $330 (only setup kit I found)




The stock compensator is 34 teeth.

Is there any other kit that is 32 teeth?
I just think 3250 RPM's on the highway at 70mph is a bit to much?

That kit takes away your comp., you might be better off changing the front pulley to a 30T, it's cheaper also.

Post the link to the setup you have.

Did you notice a big difference?

The stock transmission pulley tooth count is 32.

Is it harder to install than the compensator sprocket? Is this all I would need or a new belt too?

It is harder to install because you have to take off the comp., clutch and inner primary cover to get to the pulley, then it's a bitch to get the nut loose but the stock belt does fit, mine has been in for a few years and I still have room for adjustment, I don't think it will stretch much more anyway. It's a mod well worth doing.

here is a link from when i did it, should explain everything. It is by far the best power mod that I have done. makes it very nice to cruise.

Without the isolation compensator the crank is subject to some harsh inputs which can cause it to twist. Unless your crank is welded I would not eliminate the isolation.

So you guys wouldn't recommend doing the Rev. Industries kit? I read that the its a huge noticeable difference. I read that the front wheel just stays up.


What's the advantage or point of getting the Screamin' Eagle® Big Twin Compensator $249.95? Is the tooth count smaller? Harley says:

"This premium compensator has been engineered with heavier springs and increased travel to support the high-torque output associated with high compression race and large displacement engines. Designed to support up to 7 times the energy absorption capacity of the Original Equipment compensator, this unit helps protect the engine and driveline components during harsh drag race launches."

....so is the only advantage a smoother ride?

Thanks for the link and awesome write up. Not sure I'm read for and install like that though. That's way more involved than doing the comp.

It's the better route to take and it really isn't that much of a task, these bikes are pretty simple.

I agree, the transmission and crank need some shock absorbtion. I would use the 30 tooth pulley. Installation takes an extra 5 mins compared to the comp sprocket.
