Default How to Get Cheapest Rate for XM Subscription?

I've heard that if you call Sirius/XM directly you can negotiate a better rate than what they advertise on their website. I tried this yesterday, but didn't have any luck.

Aside from getting a few free months, by paying for several years of service in advance, does anyone know how to get the best rate for a XM subscription?

Thanks

You can buy a new GM vehicle and get it free for a year.

Or get the free service....when it is ready to expire, call them and tell them you want to cancel.

What happened to me was that I really did want to cancel XM and they kept re-upping my service for right at two years. I wasn't trying to get something for nothing, I was really tryintg to cancel (had XM in the truck, at home and on the bike and didn't need all three).

I have two radios and I stream as well...I called them up in June one day before my subscription expired and at first they offered me half off and I refused then they offered 4 bucks a month per each radio and 1 buck a month for the streaming..the trick is you have to indicate you are either canceling or not renewing...I got the going rate pricing after reading it on a fatwallet xm/sirrius forum.

+1 on the call to cancel.
Usually they will offer you the service for half the regular rate in hopes of keeping you on.

Don't know if they still offer this, but you used to be able to pay one upfront fee for the life of the radio/vehicle. I found this out when I called them and asked about it.

It wasn't cheap (about $400) but it's nice knowing I've got "free" sat radio "forever" (until the company goes belly up, anyway) ...

Call them up and tell them you want the 5 month XM Select package for $20 ($22.75 after fees). 100+ stations with this package. I start in June.01 - Oct.31 and cancel. Been renewing every year for a few years ....

...or just do without and they will call or email you with consecutively lower offers.

Holding off a month will get you the call offering $4 a month.
