Iron 883 Performance Question

Iron 883 Performance Question
Can anyone make any recommendations for me on increasing performance on my 2012 Iron 883?
I am thinking about putting on Vance & Hines Short Shots, a high flow filter or heavy breather, then doing the Stage 1 download. Is this going to get me a decent increase in performance? I really like the look of the Vance & Hines Short Shots so I'd like incorporate those pipes into my mods if possible.
The dealer mentioned something about a full 1200 kit. What would that entail?

1200 kit from HD will run a good $2k or more installed. NHRS makes a 1250 kit for around $700, that several on here have used. Do a search on 1200\1250 kit.
The pipes and stage1 will help a bit, but if you want real performance, need a 1200\1250 kit.

I think you've got the right idea. Any open pipe, high flow AC and remap will wake your bike right up. Mine's not an Iron, but it was a night/day difference back when I did that. If you can afford the 1200 conversion, you will get some more torque.
I went with Hookers (discontinued), heavy breather and a PC3 (PC5 is out now?). If you get a stage 1 AC, be sure to use loctite on the inside bolts. I've heard of those backing off and getting sucked into the engine. Heavy Breather has no internal bolts, so it wouldn't be a concern.
My only problem with the short shots is everybody seems to have them. It's to the point that they almost look stock to me. That doesn't really matter though, they're still a good looking and loud exhaust. Get whichever you like best.

Thanks so much for everyone's responses so far! I really appreciate it.
So if I did the Vance & Hines Short Shots, a high flow filter, and say the Stage 1 download would I be gaining anything in performance/horsepower or just sound?
What about if I did the same setup except Dyno tuned instead of the Stage 1 download?

Now, if you are planning to do a 1200 conversion, my advice is to wait. The stage 1 will cost you for tuner and dyno time which alone will cost near $600. If you go for a 1200 conversion shortly after, then you will have to pay another 300-400 for dyno tuning alone.
Also, don't make the mistake that I made. I went with the Screaming Eagle Pro Super Tuner. I haven't had a straight out decent tune (sans the stage 1) from it yet. I found a famous TTS Mastertune Indy (thanks to cHarley) that I made an appointment with for Saturday. I'm hoping the with the TTS Mastertune and Doc from Doc's Performance Tuning that the bike will finally run like a top.

The V&H Shorshots look sweet, but will not help performance. The heavy breather is not really necessary. Just get a stage 1 download (or ECM management module) hi-flow filter and pipes (2-1 pipe is best for performance).

I was not really out for big performance (hence the purchase of an 883 sportster). I love the way the pipes look on the bike.
I just have the pipes, SE Stage1 AC and download form the dealer, runs great. If I put any more money in it for performance, will be a PCV and a 1250 kit, but I am happy with it for now.
I also only weigh about 135 lbs, bike moves pretty well with a flyweight on the seat, from 0-70 in nothin flat.

I have the NRHS kit, K&N forcewinder, TTS Mastertuner and the RSD Tracker 2-1. I recently had it tuned, made 76/74. It's a whole new bike and a lot of fun. This winter I'll have my heads done, some cams and hope to be in the mid 90hp range... Everything was worth the price, especially the 1250 kit, it's cheap for about 20hp...
