I'm @ work on a 24 hr shift, don't have my manual & I'm wanting to remove my seat to see what I'm working w/on a seat swap. I tried google but only found videos & my work computers block youtube. Besides the screw on therear fender, how do I remove the stock seat on my 48? Thanks.

 

That's it! Pretty simple.

 

I believe you just remove the screw out the fender the sort of lift up the rear and pull backwards at the same time and it'll come right off.

 

Remove the screw, push the seat forward, pull up, then back.

Here's what it looks like underneath the seat. Pushing the seat forward, then up first removes it from the center post (you'll see it when you get the seat off). Once you feel the seat come off of the center post, don't be afraid to really pull on it. It's a snug fit up under the tank.

 

You will need to remove the screw, then push the seat forward while pulling upward. This will release the bolt in the middle of the seat. Then pull the seat backward and it will come free.

That was easy! I removed the back screw but it still felt snug but did what y'all said. Thanks! To install a spring seat, do you use the front bolt closest to the tank to mount the hinge/bracket onto?

 

Most bolt to the fork bracket that is welded to the tank and bolts to the frame.

 

Thanks Jeff, Harley must have changed the way they remove the seats (the push forward and then pull back). I tried to remove the seat this morning and couldn't. Once I looked at your pic, it was obvious then.
