Iron 883 problem
I just 3000 miles on my bike and I rode it from Ft. Bragg, NC to Warner Robins, GA this weekend. Rode it around town before I go on deployment and my engine light comes on. The rpms r raising up on and everytime I try to shift down it seems it doesn't like it and I had to keep it in 3rd gear just to keep it moving and when its in neutral the rpms start to raise up. It seemed it was about to stall out several times when I was heading back home. I had to shut it off every time I stopped and the rpms keep raising up on. I finally made it home and let it set for awhile and it still does the samething even in neutral. I know the it needs oil but I don't think thats the problem with it. I think it's the throttle cable but not 100% on that. I just started riding last year and didn't have any problems with it until today, so anyone know what the problem is?

Check for codes, flip you run switch on, hold in the odometer button on the speedo, turn key on, spedo needle will sweep then you will see letters on the milage display, push in and hold button on speedo when the P is flashing and it will display codes. You can scroll thru the letters and check each one for codes by momentary pushing button.

If it's new that's what the warranty is for
My other bike was 6 months old when it acted up and like I said the battery disconnect fixed it.
You might look behind the air cleaner housing at the connections on the throttle body, the one closest to the air box is the idle control motor and behind that is the map sensor ( on top of the intake itself)
