Default Engine Block Number.....

Ok guys, as some of you know, I just bought a used Fatboy from Chicago Harley and it was delivered to me here in Minnesota about a week ago. Anyways, I went to transfer the title and get a license plate and the lady said I need to find the "engine number". I thought we just needed the VIN number, but no, she needs the engine number too. I looked and couldn't find it. Can someone tell me where to look? Thanks!

Should be etched into the casing just below the cylinders on one side or the other, at least that's where mine is.

Thanks John. Is the engine number suppose to match the VIN number?

Yes from the factory they have the same numbers, engine block has less numbers, but will match numbers in VIN.

Here is a nice site about VIN numbers:

Take a look at the engine case itself, not the primary but where the cylinders bolt to.
Strange, usually the engine number is just for custom builds/MSO's... manufactured bikes from registered companies should just need the frame VIN.
