Any cure for lifter noise?

 

Other lifters? Otherwise dunno if there is.

 

Are you sure that it is lifter noise?

 

Late model motors have hydraulic lifters, you shouldn't have lifter noise.....unless you have a collapsed lifter. Then just replace it.

 

We could use more info on your motor and what kind of conditions the niose show up.

 

Not exactly. HD has had lots of complaints about noisy lifters since the TC came out. Most service departments tell guys, "That's normal." Some recommend the Baisley spring to boost the oil PSI a bit and quieten things down.

My bike was dead quiet for the first 52k. I put in Andrews 26G's then. They were said to be quiet cams. I have since learned otherwise and have spoke to several others with the same result. My bike sounds like a diesel once it gets hot. I have swapped lifter brands, adjusted pushrods with way and that, and added a Baisley spring. Nothing resolved it. 12k miles now after my cam swap, I don't really pay much attention to it anymore.

 

The delphi lifters are noisey,esp at certain rpms,AMDs were much quieter in comparison.

I think you may mean tappet or rocker arm noise? But maybe it is lifter noise. My 2006 was pretty quiet till the dealer installed a set of screamin eagle cams then I was perplexed to hear all this lifter/valve noise. They said that was normal. I was wondering if adjustable pushrods would fix the noise....
