Once I take all the bolts on the sides off, is there anything else to take loose? Besides the wiring? Thanks in advance.

 

There's a bolt that attaches the fender to the frame under the seat.

Also, don't forget the turn signals.

 

That bolt he is referring to goes from the bottom up. Once your seat is off you'll see the nut on the top side. Have a buddy hold a wrench on the nut so you can rachet the bolt from the bottom. I was able to remove mine by laying on the left hand side of the rear tire and came up between the tire and the fender. Did not have to lift the bike. The rear turns can be a little tricky if you've never done them before too. The double nutted stud and removing the wires from the deutsch connectors to get the wires through the fender holes, etc.

 

I managed to get the fender off myself, too. Some people prefer to drop the wheel or put it on a lift but it's not terribly difficult.

 

Or, with your bike on a lift, unbolt the rear shocks and let the swing arm drop for easy access to that nut.

Yeah, yeah. I hear ya I need a service manual. I have a lift I fabbed up. I planned on lifting it and dropping the rear wheel. I just like to have an idea before I go into it. The rear signal are gone. They have been for awhile, so they are not an issue. Thanks guys.

 

You don't need to lift it. It's cake you'll be fine.

 

local laws in my state do not require the use of signals on your bike, assuming arkansas is the same? ever catch any ****? i really want to get rid of mine and use hand signals.

 

Just remember to note where all of the wiring retainers and grommets and sleeves go, otherwise you'll have a small pile of hardware and no clue where they went.
