Default Fuel Filter Change?

Getting ready to do 25K maintenance and I see changing the fuel filter is on the list. Also see the Note that perhaps only a qualified Harley mechanic ought to do this service item. I have the Service Manual and it looks pretty straight forward. Who has done it? Any tips? I am not a mechanic and this may be beyond my capability. Anyone know the rated time its supposed to take at the Dealership? Will look here on the forum for a DIY.

Its a 2010 StreetGlide, bone stock.

thanks!

There are a few threads on this with some good tips on a PVC homemade tool to remove the clamp on top of the tank but I used an oil filter wrench the one that looks like a pliers to remove it other than the ring it's pretty easy

Here's a thread with some pic's. Been researching myself as I'm getting close to the 25K mark myself.

Yep have done it. Very easy. No special tools used or needed, contrary to what we are told.

There's a you tube video that's pretty straight forward. You'll do fine.

Had mine done by my indy mechanic. I stood right next to him to see how it was done. For him it was easy, but he struggled a bit getting all the pieces out and back in place. So, for those who have done it or have good mechanical skills, it is probable a "easy" job, but for me, there where too many things that could go wrong and it didn't look like it was something I would tackle alone. It all depends on your skill level and comfort zone. As far as changing the filter is concerned, nothing to it once everything is out of the tank, its just getting everything out and then back in the right place. What may be easy for one, can be hard for another.IMO

I just used a screwdriver to gently tap on the ears that are on the locking ring to remove it, no tools other than that. I also did not have to remove the assembly from the tank or disconnect anything. Enough room just pulling it out far as I could and replace filter . No fuss no muss

I replaced mine at 92,000 miles last summer, ( If my car gas filter can run that long, why can't my bike?) The old filter was still fine btw.

The only problem (on my older MM injection,) was the now brittle plastic nozzle of the
pump cracked when I tried to remove the old plastic hoses. That required a little 'McGivering.'
