After taking my bike to a guy that said he replaced the tans seal, it is still leaking.

I have a 89 FXR I am trying to get the clutch hub nut off, I went and got a 1 3/16 impact socket but I can't get it in far enough to engage the nut. Its too big to fit threw the opening. Is that nut indeed a 1 3/16 nut?

Do I have to take the ring off the clutch backet to get to the nut?

 

I just did an '86 FXST and I used an 1 1/8 in. socket. My '95 uses a 1 3/16 in. socket but I'm not sure when they changed.

 

You are correct, went and exchanged it.

I am guessing the Clymer manual is good enough?

 

I have a clymer as well as a factory manual for mine and the factory one is better by far. If all you have is a Clymer then go with it but if you can get a factory manual get one it is worth it.

 

Factory Shop Manual is the only way to go. Anything else is just a second opinion. Like "You want a second opinion? You're ugly too."

1-1/8" sounds real familiar to me.

 

+1 on the HD manual, worth it's weight in gold IMO.

 

I had a clymer and a harley manual both are basically the same just the clymer is cheaper

 

Ok ordered the factory manual, now looks like I need a $80 part just to pull the clutch hub basket....great!

 

I've pulled them with a 2 jaw puller before (because I had to), but the right tool is the one to use. If you broke the hub, it would be more than $80.
