Anyone know/have any tips or alternative to the crazy priced Harley saddlebag liners? $150 for liners is ridiculous.

**edit*** I am talking about the "carpet" liners. Not the luggage bags.

 

the soft H-D liners don't really keep shape well if you are imagining carrying your stuff into a hotel.

also on the road you need to balance the weight ( even a 10 pound imbalance can lead to an all-day lean and a stiff neck/back).

so my saddlebags have the heavy stuff like tools and fix a flat in the bottom. lighter stuff on top. daily cleaning stuff on one side inside the helmet ( in case I go where I need one), leathers and rain gear on the other.

I use a roll bag or tbag for a back rest ( solo) and have my clothes and shaving kit in there to carry to the room or campsite.

so any little bag you have that'll fit will save you the cash.



if you are looking at the hard sided bags, they eat up way too much interior room and make balancing the weight tricky





nobody at sturgis ever complained that my "luggage" didn't match.

Thanks for the post mike. Good info. I was actually meaning the carpet liners that line the saddlebags to keep the rattling down. Appreciate the post though.

 

Try peel and stick felt squares from a carpet/flooring store. That and a little extra double sided tape and make your own. Shouldn't cost more than $10-$15. Good Luck!

If you are worried about rattles, wrap whatever rattles in an old towel. Or a new towel if your bike is a 2012 model.

 

I've got the HD formed liners. Got them from Zannotti's 20% several years ago as part of a bigger buy. They do take up some space, but can still fit 18 pack of Coors Light in from corner store on way home from ride. I've always been able to stuff them full on trips. I've seen some quilted ones - just checked Yaffe site and we wants $350 or so for his. As stated earlier, probably very easy to make something up. I went with the HD ones so I could always take them out if I had to.

Same here. Don't think I would have a bagger without them, and they will definitely outlast the bike.

 

Just brought a set last week. Dealership was having a sale. I picked a rub off game piece that was 20% off. Well worth the money. Just wait until your dealership has a sale or go online.
