Default Engine Upgrade 96" to 103"

Fellow Members,
I have been thinking about getting a stage II upgrade on my 09 FLHX.
I got a quote from a Local HD dealer of $2712.00 including parts.
Another dealer for doing the same upgrade wants $1900.00
2712.06 includes upgraded push rods and upgraded compensator to help the starter. This is for a Big Bore Stage II 103 Kit.
Is this what it costs??
I have kept my engine stock with just adding 2into1 V&H High Output and a fuel pak

I have about 14k miles on my bike, I want a little more power out of my bike.
Has anyone on here done this and does the price sound right? Are there any pro's and cons of doing this.

Would love to hear from some of you who have done this or have gotten it done cheaper.

If you want more power I would say just add some cams & you'll probably be pretty friggin happy & have a hell of alot money left over. JMHO but I don't think for $2k-$3k your going to be that much more happy vs just a cam upgrade for alot less money. Opinions are bound to vary on this I suppose.

I have a name of a guy that is not too far and will tell you what you can expect when doing cams, big bore, whatever, he is a very honest and reputable guy. PM me if you want his name and location. I would hesitate to use either of our local dealers for performance upgrades.

There are numerous cams for a 96", my favorite for stock motor is the Andrews 48. It is reasonably priced- runs quiet as stock cams and has great low and midrange power which works well on heavy baggers. I honestly think you would be surprised as to just how much the right cam will increase your 96. JMO

I had the big bore kit and 255 cams installed on my RK by my dealer. It cost me about $1,700. I was real happy with the results, a lot of power when I needed it.
