I'm doing my first oil change this weekend and picked up some Mobil 1 V-Twin synthetic and a chrome Mobil 1 motorcycle filter #M1MC-132.

I did quite a few searches trying to find information on this filter and nothing seems to come up.

Has anyone used this filter or have any information as to whether this is a good filter to use on our Harley engines? Or is this really a new Mobil 1 product?

 

Only Mobil-1 filter I've seen people use is the M1-102. Id check the Mobile-1 site and see what it says about the filter in question.

 

The guy looked up the filter and the M1MC-132 was what was referenced for my bike. After I got home, I thought I'd do a search to see if there was any feedback on the usage of this filter. I can't seem to find any thing on it, not even on Mobil 1's site.

I do know that this is a Mobil 1 branded filter specifically for motorcycles, which is what the "MC" designation indicates on the part number.

It is my understanding the the M1 series of filters were actually automotive filters.

 

These are new filters now coming on the market for bikes. There is also a non-chrome filter M1MC-131 if you are interested. These new filters are hard to find, but if they are like other Mobil1 Extended Performance oil filters, they should be pretty good.

The most important thing in a HD filter is an ADBV to keep it full of oil when you shut the bike off. The second thing is bypass pressure rating and third is filtration rating. Since HD doesn't publish anything but the 5 micron rating it makes it very difficult to find aftermarket filters that have the same bypass pressure rating. You can simply look in the filter plate holes and see the orange or black Anti Drain Back Valve.

 

If it's an automotive filter I wouldn't use it. The twinkies need a specific spec. I think it's 5 microns and a certain bypass pressure. The auto ones may fit but I don't know if they meet the criteria.
Stick with the Harley offering,or the amsoil one. I know the amsoil one meets Harleys spec.

 

The MC M1 132 Chrome Harley oil filter is the same as the Harley oil filter, with the exception that the anti drain back valve is silicone on the M1 and neoprene in the Harley filter.
These filters, Mobil 1 and Harley filter are made by Champion.
Mobil 1 is better because of the silicone anti drain back valve. Will not get hard with heat or age, stays pliable and responds quicker.
New on the market.

I've been running that filter with the Mobil 1 V-Twin and the bike seems to be running cooler and sounds great.

check the motorcycle applications list. It's in there. The mc stands for motorcycle application. Should be as good as the other mobil 1 filters. Yet the only way I have found to be able to get one is to special order thru autozone, advance , or oreilly. No shipping charges deliver to store, usually next day or 2.

 

I was able to buy them from Pep Boys. They are on the shelf right next to the Mobil 1 V-Twin Synthetic.
