Default Removing Heritage Springer front fender

I'm currently TDY to Alaska, so I can't actually "look" at the bike right now..... I'm just trying to get an idea of what will be required, and approximately how long it will take... so I can prepare when I come home this weekend.

I'm going to be installing a front fender rail/stanchion kit on my bike... so Obviously I need to remove the front fender... My questions are:

1) Does the wheel need to come off? In other words, does the bike need to go up on the jack..... or can the fender come off without removing the wheel?

2) What do I do about he wire that goes to the light on the fender? Is there a "trick" to making this easier?

Thanks in advance!

The wheel needs to come off and there are spacers that a pressed into the fender that you will need to take out and use to put the wheel back on.

For my '91 FLSTC on and off in minutes. Four bolts and done. No need to take the wheel off. As far as the wire for the light I just cut it. Speedo cable is kinda hangin out in the open but not bad.

The heritage springer fender is way different then any other fender unless it is a springer classic which is the same fender.

The wheel does come off and has to. You will need to raise the bike off the ground.

I have a PDF for the heritage springer front end kit that shows the removal and install. Here is the link below. There is a lot more work to do then for a typical fender. You do not need to remove the press fit bushings in the fender if you are using the same fender and putting it back on.

The wire for the light is removed by lifting the fuel tank up and back a bit and then removing the wire from the connector under the tank. I recommend that you do not cut the wire because it can get corroded and cause problems later.

So you are going to drill holes in your fender to attach the stanchion?

Good luck.
