In looking at getting myself a tuner, I was planning on getting a PCV for my 2008 Rocker. However, Jamie at Fuel Moto suggested a Power Vision as it doesn't need to be mounted on the bike. I like that idea, but at an extra $200, are there any other benefits I would see? I can find a place to mount the PCV unit if that is really the only difference.

I have a PCV on my trike and I like it. Main difference between the two is the PC is an add on in line and it controls the bikes performance while the PV rewrites the ECM based on your riding style. Some people like the PV more because you don't have an additional unit that could fail, you are running off the bikes ECM. It is really an individual choice whether it is worth the extra $200 not to have the additional unit. That being said, the PV probably does give you a more bike specific map than the PC

 

I like the PCV. It works as advertised. Mine has been running flawlessly for six years. I bought it from Jamie. If he is recommending the PV now, I would trust him. The concept is better. I wasn't thrilled with squeezing the PCV under the seat, but it works. It would be better to have only the ECM to deal with.

never had a PCV but I have the PV, there are some nice features that havent been mentioned yet. You can use the PV to pull trouble codes, you can record data as you ride and refine the tunes yourself, can be used to display quite a few things like engine temp, RPM, etc..

all of those are reasons i got the PV but the main reason is that I wouldnt have to mount it under the seat. Just plug it in flash the ecm and take it off. Now if you want to do those other things I mentioned you have to leave it plugged in, but its just a cable coming out of the seat and you mount the PV some here I put it my saddleman bag that sits on the pillion. I really like the PV but never had anything else to comapre to.

 

Some guys get the canned map with the PCV and love it. Others just can't seem to find the correct one. The power vision will let you control your own destiny a bit.
I'd like the idea of being able to see my readings with the PV vs guessing with PCV.

 

I ended up getting the PV after talking with Jamie. Mostly for mounting reasons, but the extra features and ability to finely tune more should be nice.

 

Another advantage with the PV is you can buy an additional license for use on a different bike through DynoJet. The cost is $199. We bought the PV, through FuelMoto, and flashed my son's 2012 Street Bob. I then bought an additional license and flashed my 2012 Heritage, with a map provided by FuelMoto. BTW, they both run great with the PV. AL

 

I got the PV because it was the only thing that would over wright the SERT. Very happy especialy without any dyno time.
