Default Tank swap for 48?

Could I put a stock iron 883 gas tank on a 48?
Clean, no modification swap or would the mounting points need to be re-welded?

Any down side to it?

As long as its 07 or later. The only thing different is the tank vent line connection, youll have to trim it shorter with the bigger tank.

Pros - Bigger tank - more range

Cons - Bigger tank - doesnt look as good

Amen to that!
Old man liked it so much he got one too. I really like the looks of those mag wheels......might just have to think about that. I'd always thought they'd look goofy on a 48, but they look pretty good with the bigger tank and apes. More room for paint too!

its really a 1200 custom with a 48 front end i like me a chrome motor

but thanks man... the rough aluminum on the wheels will one day be powder coated black... i was going to order the blacked out fat 5's but they didnt have enough chrome for me

but the 120-150 miles before fill up is nice!

Blah the bikes that have a bigger tank don't even look like a 48 anymore. Just get a nightster instead if you want one. Looks way better on the bike it's made for

I hope this isn't too redundant but I just need a quick sanity check. I have a 2010 iron and I am about to trade my tank for a 2012 48 tank. If we both leave our pumps in the tanks will this swap be completely plug and play with the exception of the vent line?

Thanks!
