With my 120R going in, I'm gonna put my 110 on the shelf in the basement for a rainy day. Was just wondering how much a TC A engine weighs ball park? Also any tips for long term engine storage would be appreciated.

 

I would guess that engine would need a support that can handle 3-400lbs. Most guys I know who store engines fill them with cheap motor oil.

 

My old man took out his 103" and put the SE 120" in his SG trike. He's got his 103" sitting a glass-top coffee table in his basement. It is heavy though, I'd guess a few hundred pounds.

 

I think I would stash inside, back of a closet or something. Really not all that big and I would think a climate controlled environment would be much better long term storage than a basement. Just an assumption on my part, but basements that I have been tend to be damp, maybe yours is not.

 

No, his is finished, and is heated and air conditioned.

 

Yep, fill it with oil. I made the mistake of not doing that with my old Triumph and trashed the engine.

 

Apparently, Triumph trash them right at the factory these days.

Are you just saying that? Unless I've missed something Triumph makes a near bullet proof parrallel twin.

 

I assume it has no gas in it, so taking out the plugs and put a tsp of light oil in the cylinders and spinning them is good. Filling the crankcase with clean cheap oil then your good to go in a tempeture controlled enviroment.
