You set the rebound. Kinda like this the shock has two chambers. One side raises it with air. The other lowers it with air. so you can raise it up , then push it down with air , but you still have air in the other chamber creating rebound. My other airshock you could raise it up , but to lower it you had to dump air . But since you had no pressure it kept bottoming out.
