My 1984 FXE Super Glide.

 

@84 Shovel I've been saying that modern bikes are a lot bigger than their classic counterparts. How does your 02 sporty compare in size to your 84? Would you take a side-by-side picture? Thanks, Joe

Here you go Joe, the rear fenders are lined up in the pic. The Super Glide has about a 2 inch longer wheelbase and the buddy seat is 1 inch higher than the Sportsters. The 3.3 gal tank on the 883R is a whopping 5 inches taller than the FXE tank. The rigid mount EVO Sporty had the same frame from '82 with the Ironhead till '03. The rubber mount Sportsters '04-on were somewhat larger than the earlier bikes.

Thanks! There is some difference then, at least until 2004. With a frame mounted seat they would be very similar. 5" taller? Wow.
