BOOM II question
#31
I have a 2012 CVO SG that had boom. I have replaced the head unit, uppers and lowers, and put in a sound stream amp. I can tell you for sure the quality and volume is so much better now, it's not even funny. With the Boom, I had to turn bass and treble almost all the way down to run anywhere abot 50% volume, and even then it sounded like crap.

I got the stage II in my FLHXS, very impressed and pleased with it. Is there better out there, Im sure but Im happy with my set up. I too, like the OP, was concerned about warranty issues and didnt want to mess with aftermarket stuff.
I did the whole system with the stage II fairing and lid speakers. Both amps, one mounted in the fairing the other in the saddlebag. Sound Customz is a great option and your paying up there too for the high end focal speakers and arc audio amp. At the end of the day I made my decision to go with the stage II set up and I am glad I did. Thats my two cents.

I've never heard the 2012 Boom system, but it was about half as powerful as the one offered in today's CVO's. It only had 160 watts vs 300 watts RMS today. That's a pretty significant difference. I'm only saying this because comparing the 2012 stuff vs today's is like comparing apples and oranges. I don't think anyone would say the audio in the 2014 and newer CVO's sound like crap (at least not from a good source).

As has been pointed out, Harley isn't great about putting out much info. I've read that the Harley stuff is 2 ohms, but can't confirm that. The Boom II system has two 75 watt x 4 channel amplifiers (RMS) with .01 total harmonic distortion. The two amps power 4 speaker locations so in reality you are getting 150 watts per channel. Harley splits the speakers between the woofers and midrange/tweeters with each getting 75 watts RMS.

Maybe AAWAV can test this one as well!!

Gann this is the amp. No real details on the specs. Essentially they have it listed as a two channel 150per channel amp?
Maybe AAWAV can test this one as well!!

I paid less than that for my Bictronic 4180 that is 180 w x4.
Did you link the wrong amp?

...and that’s the punch line!
See the OP initial post for the part numbers. That link is for the entire kit....amp by itself I think was listed for 450.
I was re-thinking this, and man what a **** move by HD if they void warranties unless you buy their overpriced stuff.

Looking at the Biketronics stuff, the amp they have listed for 2014 models is the 2180.14 which is $440.95. That's pretty close in power and price to HD's newest amp.

Until people educated themselves they'll just keep paying Harley prices for mediocre upgraded parts.
Honestly if you come here and ask the questions and don't care for the answers then go the way your going to go and buy what you want. After all it's your money and bike and you may be very satisfied?
