Something is off on the t400x2ad readings unless the amps vary that much. On my Rigol ds1052 I showed right at 32 vac on a 4 ohm stereo load with my 400 watt resistor bank before sawtooth began using a 1khz tone. That was on bike running with 14.1- 14.3 stator output. So the 150 per side @ 4 ohm just seems way off. I ran that bastard hard enough till I blew fuses and was really smoking my resistor bank. So the 32 vac per side was a stable and solid number on mine.

Hey - I cannot retest as I don't have one but 32V at 4 ohm equals 250+W...
that is really far off my measurements indeed.

FYI to my knowledge there is no amp out there that gives same RMS at 2 ohm and 4 ohm (nor the "doubling the RMS value" from the 4 ohm load to 2 ohm, UNLESS you bridge 2 channels).

When I did the test, I triple checked my findings.
Now we all do know RF does actually underrate their amps

needless to say, this amp is very good... and factory specs are "blown" by real RMS output...

Fully appreciate the info and efforts put forth. From our talks you know a great deal and I trust your findings. What I was mentioning this for is the t400x2 is rated 200x2 @ 4 ohms. 150 is WAY under the rated output IMO. Only 3 amps I know do not increase at 2 ohms technically. The Arc 600.4 and the T400 series both the 4 and 2 channel. Both are a constant power designs that do not technically increase output from 4 to 2 ohms. Once I get my new amp later this year when it releases I will retest or even send it your way to try again.

I know my tm400x4ad sounds like it's a hell of a lot more than 100x4. Way under rated. I'm surprised it's not as recommended here, as some of the others. Why is that? The PBR series leave a bad taste?

I ran this amp for a while and honestly I wasn't "blown" away by it for the cash. The first one I had got so hot it cooked and I had t return it. By comparison the Arc 600.4 that does a true 150x4 is louder and has better sq. When the T400 first came out it was 500 bucks. If that amp was 350.00 it would be a solid purchase but that's a lot of cash for what you get. I think that's why it never really took off.

I guess I did pretty good then. I caught a deal on Amazon for $337. A month later, and you can't find them for less than $475. What's up with that? Crazy!

Default New batch of 5 amps tested

new test results:

Diamond HXM800.4
4 Ohm – non bridged: ~105 Watt ~20.5 Vac
2 Ohm – non bridged: ~165-170 Watt ~18.2 - 18.4 Vac
4 Ohm – bridged: ~325 Watt* ~36.0 Vac

DB Neo4
4 Ohm – non bridged: ~85Watt ~18.4 Vac
2 Ohm – non bridged: ~128 Watt ~16 Vac
4 Ohm – bridged: ~250 Watt ~31.6 Vac

DD D4
4 Ohm – non bridged: ~78.5 Watt ~17.7 Vac
2 Ohm – non bridged: ~120 Watt ~15.5 Vac
4 Ohm – bridged: ~225 Watt ~30 Vac

JL 500/4
4 Ohm – non bridged: ~75Watt ~17.3 Vac
2 Ohm – non bridged: ~133 Watt ~16.3 Vac
4 Ohm – bridged: ~260 Watt ~32.2 Vac

MMATS MD4100
4 Ohm – non bridged: ~90 Watt ~19.0 Vac
2 Ohm – non bridged: ~145 Watt ~17.0 Vac
4 Ohm – bridged : ~290 Watt* ~34.0 Vac

* Input power dropped below 14Vdc, even with revving. and only when 1 channel of the 2 was hooked up (bridged). IMHO the voltage would never get above 14V without changes to your bike's charging system.

See post # 1 for location of test documents for more details...
