Default Sony MEX-M70BT/ASWC-1 Questions

I'm presently in a dilemma similar to others on the forum. The back light on my HK HU is going out (flickering). I now a choice to make. Have the HK repaired, or replaced, through my extended warranty or buy a new HU.

As for the HK I didn't really mind it. I have a PBR300x2 with MM651s in the fairing (2012 SG). I have the Ipod interface from Ironcross. I really like the ipod interface because I pretty much listen to my ipod...lol. I like how I can use the long hold (up or down) on the right switch to scroll through my playlists, artists, genre... Depending on which one was selected on the HK HU. I usually use the playlist. I have a lot of my songs separated into playlists depending on my mood..... So in the end, I'm looking to keep that ability.

I've been looking at the Sony MEX-M70BT. I'm guessing it really doesn't matter the HU as much as it will be the handle bar controls. I've contacted Axxess in reference to their ASWC-1. They tell me they do have a long hold programing feature, but can't promise it will scroll through playlists.

Can anyone give any input on this? I really like this unit, but don't want to get something that will not work for me. I don't want to scroll an entire (3000) list of songs to find the ones I like. I've also contacted Biketronics and they basically stated the same thing.

Thanks for your help.

I think regardless of which way you go I would have the HK HU replaced or repaired being that it's under warranty. I'd still give the aftermarket world a serious thought as it will make that big of a difference in the sound quality of what you've already installed. Just my 2¢.

2010 Limited with some stuff!!

something to consider is the fact most if not all Aftermarket HU, you will have a hard time reading the screen due to glare.
I have a thumb drive in my unit and organized my songs via Genres for moods. I cannot use my controls to go through the search options on the USB. only next song and back to beginning of song.
not an Apple fan so cannot speak to it. Perhaps there are other ones out here running apple via aftermarket HU with ASWC-1 and can chime in.
aftermarket HU will give you better sound for sure...

I just spoke with Axxess.

Can anyone tell me if the buttons on the sony radio for preset up and down (or seek up and down) are the same buttons used to scroll through the playlists in ipod mode.

Thanks for any input.
