Default 4 channel bridged vs 2 channel (both 400w)

I know we've talked about this before but I can't find the thread

Fosgate TM400x2 = 200 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm
Fosgate TM400x4 = 200 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm Bridged

So aside from the size of the amp, what's the difference? Better to run a 2 channel @ 200w or a 4 channel bridged @ 400w?

For that matter, is it better to run ANY 4 channel bridged vs a 2 channel at the same watt output?

and yes I'm back to the drawing board again

I'd rather run a 2 channel amp, than bridging a 4 channel. 4ohm bridged = 2ohm stereo. Your amp is more efficient and less draw the higher the ohm load.

200 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohm Bridged on the 4 channel amp. Bunker was right. I just copied this from rf page. Haze, is there something we're missing here? I only ask cause I know you know your stuff and wonder if it's something they all do when bridged?

Not sure what you are asking brother? Bunker is asking should he get the TM400X2 or the TM400X4 --- they both put out the same amount of juice. One does it at 4ohm per channel x 2, the other does it bridged. I'd rather not have to bridge an amp for the above reasons.

exactly why I have a tm400x2 on the way to feed my bag lids. In the compact amp market to get any more than 200 per side and fit I'm the fairing, the micro4v2 or Arc 600.4 is about it for good quality output. Those of course have to be bridged to do so. I keep my hopes up on day a 250x4 will come around and fit in fairing. Some day.

I thought in this one you were saying that four ohms Bridged equels two ohms? Or is it just equal to that load somehow being bridged?

I have the TM400x4 that I just got back from Fosgate serviced and ready to go. Going to try it with the KRC's and the M770's in the lids.

If that setup doesn't work, I'll be selling the TM400x4 and the KRC's.

I'll then run 2x TM400x2's; 1 for the M770's and will replace the KRC's with 602's and run another TM400x2 to them. I really like the 602's with 200w to them, it's been my most satisfying setup so far and it was only 2 speakers, go figure.

Ok. Got it thanks. I'll stick to parallel and series and stay away from bridging amps.

The TM400x2 I bought off ya is still making these Moto 602's scream, can't thank you enough. Been thinking about trying to fit both the TM400x2 and the B54 or B52 in the batwing to get an amp out of the bags.

Is there a good 200Wx4 amp out there for the bag? Might be something to look in to. Good luck and let us know what you find or end up with.
